Lasik Eye Surgery Cost – What Determines the Price of Corrective Eye Surgery

Many people agree that a Lasik vision correction can change a person’s life. After several years spent wearing contacts or glasses and after dealing with serious eye health problems, many patients have undergone Lasik eye surgery and were very pleased with the results.
Before visiting a doctor for the Lasik surgery, you might want to know how much this will cost you because nowadays a medical treatment can be quite expensive.
At first, many people were afraid about allowing a doctor to use a laser over their eyes but in time the technology, the training and the tools got better and better and that made the surgeon’s job safer and easier day after day.
It’s recommended that you visit a good Lasik eye surgeon when you decide to go ahead with the surgery but before setting up an appointment, it would be best if you check the prices. Also, it’s very important to know if your insurance covers this type of procedure in order to avoid any unpleasant surprises.
The price for a Lasik surgery is highly influenced by numerous factors starting with your location and ending with the doctor’s level of expertise.
When you go see the laser eye surgeon you should ask him the following:
- How much will the equipment maintenance cost?
- How much will I pay for the salaried stuff, the facilities and the supplies?
- If I’m contributing to the royalty payments received by laser manufacturer and what’s the amount to be paid?
- What’s the estimated amount for the follow-up costs for post-operative exams for one year after the surgery?
It’s very important that the surgeon will offer you honest responses because this will influence your decision. Also, there are a few offices that will even negotiate with your vision insurance provider for the covered amount.
The eye is probably the most important body part because it provides the most important sense of all. That’s why every patient is entitled to ask as much as possible about the Lasik eye surgery about the surgeon and last but not least about the financial expenses.

How much did your LASIK eye surgery cost?
And did insurance cover all or any of it?
I hear ads on the radio and see billboards all the time saying things like, “starting at $299 per eye” and such. That seems very reasonable, but is it for real?

Mine was about $2K per eye. But it depends on the method of surgery, the extensiveness of corrective work needed, and the doctor you use.
Most places have financing available. I think it can help astigmatism, but I don't know about lazy eye. Consultations are usually free of charge so be sure to visit a few doctors to find the one that's best for you.
These are your eyes, you don't want to bargain shop, and the price is worth it.
in 28 and i had it done 5 yrs ago it has to be one of the best things ive done and i reccomend it to anyone it costs about 400 each eye its a simple procedure lasts about 20 mins and although blurry i could see straight after i went with optical express the service and aftercare i got was fab i reccomend u go and see them and they will go through it all with you
Really depends. i have seen them as cheap as 1000USD and as high as 5000USD.
I paid 4500USD becase the guy that did it Dr Silver at TLC eye care centers is one of the top guys in the field.
Remember they are your eyes, if there is one thing you should not try to save money on is a Lasik procedure.
I think it's like 1-2,000, an eye. Something like that, you'll actually have to talk to the place you are thinking of going to get it done, and they will give you an answer…but i do believe it's that much per eye. hope this helps, i'm not sure what it is in michigan..but it does depend on your eyes, and how bad they are, and if they can do it.
One thing you need to remember about these places that advertise this procedure for ridiculously low prices is that it is often a bait-and-switch operation. What they don't tell you is that the procedure will cost considerably more if you have a strong prescription.
I'm not considered to be a good candidate for it because my eyes are too dry. Even if I were, I still wouldn't have it done. That's because at my age, I would still have to wear glasses no matter what I decide to do. I have the choice between wearing my usual glasses or having to get a pair of reading glasses, which is something I haven't needed so far.
The optimal time to have LASIK eye surgery is in your 30s or early 40s. Having it done when you're very young is not always the greatest idea because your eyes can change later on. You should consult with a reputable eye surgeon. Someone who is more concerned about your welfare than making a fast buck.
Most of the bigger LASIK surgery practices do offer financing and this makes sense because you're going to use this over the rest of your life. I wouldn't go with the doctor that offers you the cheapest price. You only get one set of eyes.

Honestly, its better you consult a specialist to find out what's best for you. I really want to help but I don't think I can give better answers than specialist do. Sorry.
good luck
